SENIOR HURLING
A busy week in senior club action sees us bow out of the championship after a defeat to Thurles Sarsfields in the 3 way playoff also involving Drom & Inch. After a draw between ourselves and Drom we faced Sarsfields knowing a victory would see us qualify. Sarsfields started the stronger and approaching half time had built up a 7 point lead before a fine Jack Butler goal got us back into the game. Thurles responded immediately with a goal of their own to leave the half time score 1-14 to 1-7.
Two goals from Michael Lee however pulled us back into the game and entering the final 10 minutes we were still well in touch. However Sarsfields finished stronger and ran out 5 point victors. This result meant we need Sarsfields to beat Drom & Inch by 6 points or more last Wednesday evening to see us progress to the knockout stages. Thurles’ margin of victory however was a solitary point so our challenge is over for another year. Thanks to the players and backroom team for the efforts during the yeaar including some very tough games.

SENIOR FOOTBALL
Hard luck to the senior footballers who came up short against Arravale Rovers last Saturday evening in the final county championship group game. The first half was a tight low scoring affair but we went in ahead by 1-3 to 1-1 thanks in part to a Dean Carew goal. The game was still level midway through the second half until an Arravle goal gave them a 3 point leads. A further 3 goals were to be scored including a penalty from Paul Shanahan but unfortunately we weren’t able to stage a comeback and were defeated 4-9 to 2-8. This result sees us finish 3rd in the group and not qualify for the knockout stages but also clear from relegation danger. Thanks to the management team and the players for their efforts all year.

SENIOR HURLING
The games are coming thick and fast right now and last Tuesday night saw us face Drom & Inch in the first game of the 3 way playoff of the county championship. On a very wet evening in Templetouhy we stormed into an early lead, shooting the first 7 points of the game, including some fantastic scores considering the weather conditions. Drom, as expected, clawed their way back into the game, largely aided by frees from Seamus Callanan but we maintained a 4 point lead at half time. Drom continued their fine form in the second half, scoring 7 out of 8 points to take a 2 point lead with 3 minutes of normal time left. It looks like they would ease to victory but points from Pat Shortt & Jack Butler deep into injury time levelled the game up. Further drama was to come as Pat Shortt pointed a free to put us back into the lead but Drom & Inch had the final say as a Johhny Ryan free tied the game up again and the referee blew the whistle shortly after to leave the final score 13 points apiece. We face a short turnaround to the next game as we face Thurles Sarsfields on Sunday at 5pm in Holycross. A victory here will see us into the knockout stages. Best of luck to all involved.

SENIOR HURLING
Well done to the senior hurlers who overcame Carrick Swans in Golden last Saturday to claim their 2nd win in the Dan Breen championship group stage. The first half especially was a tough, hard fought affair with the teams evenly matched and trading points until just before half time Michael Lee struck for the games opening goal. This helped us to a 4point half time lead. We started the second half strongly scoring 5 of the opening 6 points to take an 8 point lead and despite 2 goals from Swans we were able to run out 6 point victors 1-23 to 2-14. The final group game is this Sunday between Thurles Sarsfields and Drom & Inch and should Drom not win we will qualify for the knockout stages. If Drom do win then this will set up a 3 way playoff between ourselves, Sars and Drom to see who emerges.

SENIOR HURLING
Despite a fierce effort last Saturday we came up short against reiging county champions Thurles Sarsfields in the second round of the county championship group stage. A fine team performance saw us go into the break ahead with 8 different scorers from play. This was maintained into the second half and we held a 2 point lead at the three quarter mark. But sustained pressure from Thurles Sarsfields saw them charge through and record a comfortable victory. Drom’s victory in the other group game see’s us level with them on 2 pts. Sars have 4 and Swans are on 0. Our last game is against Carrick Swans on Sat 25th at 6:30pm in Cashel. A victory coupled with Sarsfields beating Drom would see us into the county knockout stages. A win for both us and Drom would require a 3 way playoff to determine who progresses.

SENIOR FOOTBALL
The county senior football championship re-commences this Sat Aug 18th at 6:30pm in Cashel with a tie against Moyle Rovers. After victory over Galtee Rovers in our first game we will be hoping to keep up that momentum. All support appreciated.
