Weekly Club Notes – Feb 26th 2016

JUVENILE CLUB
The U14 footballers beat Loughmore-Castleiney in the Peil B competition semi final last Saturday by 4-11 to 1-7

INTERCOUNTY REPRESENTATION
James Barry started at centre back for the Tipperary senior hurlers against Kilkenny last weekend. Dean Carew started at corner back and TJ Butler at midfield for the Tipperary minor footballers in their Leinster Minor Football League tie with Louth.

2016 PARALYMPICS
Congratulations to former Tipperary minor Peter Ryan who has been selected to represent Ireland in cycling in the Rio Paralympics later this year

Membership for 2016 can now be paid to committee members or online at http://www.upperchurchdrombanegaa.ie/members
Prices are unchanged from 2015:
€10 for all players between the ages of 16 to 18.
€20 for all players between the ages of 18 to 21.
€50 for all players over 21 years of age.
€30 for all non playing members irrespective of age.

TIPPERARY GAA CLUB ALL COUNTY MATCH PASS 2016
The match pass for 2016 is currently on sale at the price of €120. This pass gives access to all adult matches within the County during 2016. These Passes may be of interest to club members and lead to substatial savings for regular match goers. Passes can be ordered through the GAA Office Slievenamon Rd, Thurles or by contacting 0504 22702 where you can pay over the phone.

2016 County Fixtures
The draws were made last Monday night for the first round of games in the county SHC, SFC, senior hurling challenge cup amongst others.

County Senior Hurling Championship (possibly to be played on weekend of 10th April)
Roinn 1 Group 1

Killenaule v JK Brackens

County Senior Football Championship (possibly to be played on weekend of 17th April)

County Senior Hurling Challenge Cup Round 1 (to be played on weekend of 6th/13th March)

Intercounty Representation
A number of club members were in action for Tipp teams last weekend. James Barry started at centre back for the Michael Ryan led senior hurlers in their NHL win against Dublin. TJ Butler and Dean Carew both played for the Tipperary minor footballers in their Leinster Minor Football League tie with Laois. Both teams are in action again this weekend.

Juvenile Club

Past Tipperary Players
A new section has been added to the website listing parish men who have been involved with Tipperary at various levels down through the years at http://www.upperchurchdrombanegaa.ie/tipperary-players/ Of credit to the club is that in only 2 of the last 50 years(1969, 1980) has there been no-one from Upperchurch-Drombane on Tipperary panels and in the last 10 years(06-15) 14 different players have been involved with 2 further members of management teams.

Under 21 Football
Well done to the Under 21 A footballers who recorded a 2 point victory over JK Brackens Óg in Templemore last Sunday. In wet conditions Upperchurch raced into a 9 point lead in the first half only for 3 JK Brackens goals to bring the game back level with 10 minutes left. Upperchurch replied with 2 more points to run out winners on a scoreline of 1-10 to 3-2. They now progress to the mid semi final.

County Hurling & Football Draws
The draws for the 1st rounds of the Tipperary SHC, SFC & IHC will take place at the County CCC meeting on Monday February 15th.

Tipperary v Dublin
Best of luck to Michael Ryan on his first competitive game as Tipperary senior hurling manager when they face Dublin in Semple Stadium this Saturday at 7pm. The game is also being televised on Setanta Ireland. Also best of luck to James Barry who is named at number 6.

Under 21 A Football
Our under 21 footballers are out in the first game of the mid A championship this Sunday at 12pm against JK Brackens in Templemore. All support appreciated.

2016 Mid & County Draws
Details of the 2016 mid & county draws across all grades can be found in the news section of the clubify app or on the website at http://www.upperchurchdrombanegaa.ie/2016-hurling-football-draws/
Fixture dates and times will be added to the website fixtures section once they are known.

Changes to Age Grades
There are some changes to the rules regarding age grades for 2016.
From 1st January 2016 the following changes to Rule 6.16 (Age Grades) apply:
A player who wishes to play Adult Club must be over 17 years (Must be 17 before 1st January 2016)
A player who wishes to play Adult Inter-County must be over 18 years.
A player who wishes to play Under 21 Club – must be under 21 and over 16 years.
A player who wishes to play Inter-county Under 21 must be under 21 years and over 18 years.
Rule 6.21 (c) Inter County Players Availability to Clubs:
A player on an Inter-County minor panel shall not play in Adult Club League Competitions / Challenge Games until his Inter-County activity for the year is concluded.
An inter-county panellist is defined as a player listed in a panel of 24 players on March 1st, and which may be amended and confirmed to the County Secretary on a monthly basis thereafter.
