Our county championship bid came to an end last Sunday when we were defeated by Borris-Ileigh in Semple Stadium. The lads put up a great effort but ultimately it was not enough against the reigning county and Munster champions. Jack Butler got us off to a great start with a first minute goal and it was nip and tuck for the first half with the teams going in level. A Niall Kenny goal for Borris turned the tide in their favour and saw them build up a commanding lead. Pat Shortt scored an injury time goal but it was Borris who ran out 1-20 to 2-10 winners. Toomevara’s win over Burgess means we finish 3rd in the final table so do not progress to the quarter finals but are also safe from relegation. There is now a break before the mid championship begins later in the Autumn.

We will play JK Brackens next Sunday August 23rd at 4pm in The Ragg in our final group game in the county championship. A victory coupled with an Aherlow win in the other group game would see us finish top of the table and qualify for the semi finals. We are safe from the relegation playoff irrespective of results. Both ourselves & JK Brackens are teaming up to stream the game with a high quality stream and commentary being provided. The exact link to view it will be sent out before the game.

Our junior hurlers came up short against Moycarkey-Borris in the mid championship last Friday night in Littleton. The hosts were much stronger on the evening and won on a scoreline of 4-23 to 0-14. Our final group game is on Sunday Aug 30th at 11am when we face Boherlahan Dualla in Drombane.

Our minor hurlers were due to face Gortnahoe-Glengoole in the mid semi final last Wednesday however the game had to be postponed at late notice. We do not have a date for the re-fixture yet. Moycarkey-Borris await the winners in the final.
