Our senior footballers claimed a memorable victory last Tuesday night when they defeated Cahir in the county championship by 4 points. A very strong start was aided by goals from John Ryan(J) and Niall Grant to push Upperchurch into a 7 point lead after only 16 minutes. With great performances all over the field being aided by deadly accuracy from Paul Shanahan on frees the half time lead was 8 points. A Cahir goal midway through the second half saw the lead reduced to 6 but Niall Grant’s 2nd goal of the game immediately after regained the momentum. The remainder of the game saw Upperchurch controlling the game and although Cahir scored 2 goals from penalties in injury time the result was never in doubt. In the other group game Commericals defeated Ballyporeen. Our final group game against Clonmel Commercials is fixed for Sat June 17th at 6:30pm in Cashel.
