SENIOR FOOTBALL
We weathered the challenge of Arravale Rovers in our final group game last Saturday and in doing so progressed to the county quarter finals. A point from play by Conor Fahey and a Paul Shanahan free within the opening 2 minutes set us off on the best foot in Dundrum. A further point from Paul, coupled by 2 from Luke Shanahan saw us 5 ahead midway through the first half before Arravale registered their first score. A few minutes later Upperchurch got the opening goal of the match via Aaron Ryan to build a healthy advantage approaching the break. Arravale struck for a goal of their own on the stroke of half time to leave 4 points between the sides. The second half saw more of the same from Upperchurch as Luke Shanahan darted through to raise a green flag 9 minutes, only for Arravale to put over 2 quick fire points themselves and reduce the gap to 6 points. That was to be their last score of the game as Upperchurch controlled proceedings and notched a few more scores including points from play by Paddy Phelan and Pat Ryan. Final score was 2-10 to 1-4 and sees us finish 2nd in the group on points difference and take a seeded position for the quarter finals. The draw for this round has yet to be made.

JUNIOR B FOOTBALL
Congratulations to our junior B team who claimed their 2nd mid title in 3 years with a resounding win over Moyne/Templetouhy last Sunday. A clinical start saw us score 7 of the first 8 points within the opening 11 minutes, including a 2 pointer from TJ Butler. The lead was extended out to 9 just minutes later when Ailbe O'Donoghue found the net. Moyne rallied well and a quick fire point and goal reduced the gap to 5.Both teams would then trade a number of points before a brace of 2 point scores from TJ Butler gave Upperchurch a 10 point gap at half time. The second half saw us manage the lead well, always keeping 9-11 points in front. Moyne did score a goal late in injury time to reduce the margin to 6 but Upperchurch took the trophy 1-19 to 2-10 and now progress to the county series.
