Sunday is a big day for the club as we take to the Semple Stadium sod in search of the Seamus O'Riain cup and with it promotion back to the senior ranks. Standing in our way will be the formidable Carrick Swans. A massive effort will be required of the team to clear this hurdle but it is one they are more than capable of achieving. With a large Carrick following anticipated we are calling on all our supporters to head to Thurles on Sunday for the 12:30pm throw-in and give that extra boost to the team to see them over the line. Tickets can be purchased in advance at https://embed.futureticketing.ie/c/tipperary-gaa/ or at the gate via Tap n Go. Thanks to all who have put up colours around the parish ahead of the game and added to the atmosphere.
SENIOR FOOTBALL
Our senior football semi final against Clonmel Commercials was postponed last weekend after the sudden and untimely death of Tipperary senior football manager & long time member of Clonmel Commercials Philly Ryan. The game has been refixed for Saturday Nov 1st at 2:30pm in Cashel.
JUNIOR B FOOTBALL
It took extra time to separate the sides in the county quarter final last weekend but ultimately it was Galtee Rovers who came out on top. In wet, windy conditions in Tipperary town the sides traded a brace of points in the opening quarter with TJ Butler & Eanna Ryan on target for the Church. The game sprung into life shortly afterwards as Upperchurch struck the first real blow via a darting run from Hughie Purcell which raised a green flag. The Galtee response was swift as they scored a goal of their own within a minute to tie the scoreline again. Galtee, playing with the strong wind, added 3 more points before half time, with Ailbe O'Donoghue scoring an Upperchurch point to leave us trailing by 2 at the break. Upperchurch began the second half well with Ailbe O'Donoghue and Hughie Purcell again getting on the scoresheet in the first 10 minutes only for Galtee to pull 2 in front again with just 5 minutes left. Upperchurch finished stronger though and points from Padraig Griffin and Colm Stapleton sent the game to extra time, the sides level at 1-7 apiece. Things looked bright for Upperchurch at the start of extra time and Colm Stapleton and TJ Butler pushed Upperchurch into a 2 point lead, however that was wiped out via a Galtee Rovers goal from a penalty. The second period of extra time was dominated by Galtee as they poached another 2 goals and left Upperchurch with too large a deficit to chase down. Final score was a win for Galtee 4-8 to 1-9.
