COUNTY HURLING LEAGUE
Our senior hurlers kept their unbeaten run going as they played out a draw with Roscrea in Roscrea last Friday evening. On a difficult playing surface and in heavy rain the players put in a mighty effort. The early exchanges were tight but a Pat Ryan goal in the 7th minute gave Upperchurch some breathing room. Both sides would continue to trade points over the next quarter before Upperchurch raised a second green flag, this time courtesy of Sean Ryan to put five between the sides. Roscrea did narrow the margin to three by half time. The second half was only three minutes old when Loughlin Ryan put Upperchurch firmly in charge with our third goal and the game looked decided as we led by 8 with 7 minutes left. But as the rain turned torrential it was Roscrea who finished strongest. 2-1 in the space of four minutes put them within a solitary score and with the final puck of the game they put over a 21 yard free to see the game finish a draw(3-8 to 2-11). We still top the table with 5 points from our three games. The next outing is against Gortnahoe-Glengoole on Friday 24th at 7pm in Gortnahoe.
SENIOR FOOTBALL
The 2025 mid senior football championship finally gets underway next Tuesday evening as we play JK Brackens in the semi final. Throw-in in Templemore is at 7:30pm with the winners going on to meet Loughmore-Castleiney in the final.
